Announcement from the Dallas Zoo on the mysterious death of a vulture

An endangered vulture was found dead in its cage at the Dallas Zoo in Texas under undisclosed circumstances.

The large bird, one of only 6,500 of the species left worldwide, had “highly suspicious” injuries which led to his death. The zoo confirmed that the vulture he did not die of natural causes.

His name was Pin and he was 35 years old while he had spent 32 years at the zoo leaving 11 offspring and one great-grandchild.

The case is already being investigated by the police. reports the BBC.

The death of the vulture comes one week after the mysterious disappearance of a leopard who escaped from the same zoo through a hole made by strangers in the cage. The leopard, which is not considered dangerous to humans, escaped on January 13. Meanwhile, in a cage where the monkeys are located, places where the fence had been deliberately cut were found.

The president of the zoo in his statements said that the incidents with the leopard and the vulture may be related and expressed his concern. In any case, the zoo has stepped up security measures, while also offers $10,000 to anyone who provides information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators.
