Finland changes course: It granted permission to export military equipment to Turkey

THE Finland has granted a license to export military equipment to Turkey, the Defense Ministry announced today, lifting a suspension imposed by Helsinki since the fall of 2019 due to a Turkish military operation in Syria.

The resumption of these equipment export licenses was one of the conditions Ankara had placed on Finland and Sweden to give the green light to their NATO membership.

Stockholm had taken a similar step at the end of September.
