Patras: The 6 defendants were remanded in custody for setting up a criminal organization


The six men were remanded in custody, anti-authoritarians members of the seven-member criminal organization dismantled by the Patras Security sub-directorate, against whom criminal prosecution was brought to the degree of felony, for the commission of robberies, theft of bicycles, cultivation and trade of cannabis, manufacture and possession of explosives.

THE unique woman of the group of “7” defendants, h 24 years old from Agrinio, who is accused of drug offenses and possession of weapons, after her apology yesterday, she was released with the restrictive condition of being banned from leaving the country. It’s about her sister of one of the arrested and a student at the Department of Philology of the University of Patras.

Among the members of the criminal organization o 27-year-old son of “Stelios” of November 17 who is accused of committing seven robberies in banks, ELTA branches and a supermarket.

“Stelios” was arrested in the summer of 2002 in Epirus, where he was present with his family and had confessed that he was recruited in 1988 by Iraklis Kostari, Dimitris Koufodina and Savvas Xiros and that he participated in four actions of the organization.

Two 28-year-olds are accused of the theft cases, one the son of a professor from Athens and the other a student at the Pedagogical Department of the University of Patras, the son of a teacher in Agrinio and well-known in the anti-authoritarian scene, a 25-year-old from Agrinio, the child of employees in a public organization, a 23-year-old also from Agrinio and 26 years old, born in Athens, originally from the capital of Etoloakarnania.

From the investigation it has emerged that the perpetrators hit approximately every three months while it is estimated that the total amount of profits is over 19,000 euros.

In addition to robberies, the perpetrators, in order to maximize their illegal profit, had set up in the houses where they lived, suitable areas with hydroponic cannabis crops, while the quantities produced were then sold in the area of ​​the center of Patras.

In fact, in one of the apartments even a special pipe was found for growing cannabis. But in addition to the large amount of cannabis, weapons, explosives and books on the subject of the revolutionary struggle and anarchism were found and confiscated.

The perpetratorsaccording to the ELAS announcement, in order to achieve their goal they had procured pistols, appropriate clothing to cover their facial and body features (such as jackets, wigs, medical masks, glasses, jockey hats, etc.) , while they proceeded to steal motorcycles, which they used during the robberies.

After the robberies, they would abandon the machines, change clothes and escape in a different vehicle.
