Twelve countries have agreed to transfer approx 100 German Leopard tanks in Ukraine, “if the German government gives its permission,” reports the American television channel ABC, citing a high-ranking Ukrainian official.
According to the official, who was not named, the relevant agreements were reached at a meeting of the contact group on support of Ukraine of NATO countries and their allies, which took place last week at the Ramstein air base in Germany.
As noted, Poland and Finland have already publicly announced their readiness to bring tanks to Kyiv. According to the Ukrainian official, Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark also want to provide Ukraine with some tanks.
The new head of the German Ministry of Defense, Boris Pistorius, after the meeting of the contact group in support of Ukraine, he explained that the Germany is not yet ready to supply Leopard tanks to Kyiv, but has scheduled an inspection of this type of tanks to assess the scenario for a positive decision in the future.
